Current View of Technology

MY current view of technology is that I think that it is very important. I feel that technology is the way of the future and that by the time the children we teach, get older, technology will even be a much bigger part of everyday life. Technology is being used everywhere such as cars, schools, workforce, and just where ever because most people have an IPod and also a cell phone and that is a form of technology also. Overall, I feel that technology is really important for us as teachers and just people to know and also for children to learn because it will be a bigger part of their lives as they continue to move on in life.

Non-Computer Tech Use in Classroom

Movies and television are a non-computer-based technology. The most interesting part about movies is that they can be used for every and any subject and are very important for children to learn the correct things in the world today such as: politics, nature, technology, weather,and everything that someone needs to stay on top of the world on a daily basis. Movies and Telvision will always be important in todays society and will always be a need. People always need to know current information as well as history so we know how to change the future.

ERIC project reflection

I really enjoyed most of the presentations that the class presented to us. Some of the things that I am concerned with are just trying to being able to utilize all of the technology in the classroom. Another thing that I am worried about is forgetting to realize that almost everything is a certain type of technology. I will enjoy learning how to use all of the programs just like the children will be. I will also enjoy watching the faces of the children when they learn how to use the technology that I provide in the classroom for them.

This is a article that talks about how blogging is the new craze and that many classrooms are starting to use it. They are being used as bulletin boards and that is useful. I personally do not think that this is a beneficial way to use blogs. I really think that blogs are not that useful because I forget that I have one and so I guess if you are all about it, it would be cool, but most parents really do not know how to use that all that well, or atleast mine. So overall, I think its a good idea in theory but I do not think that my parent's age really understand or get why blogs are beneficial they would much rather recieve a paper copy of what is going on at the schools.

Reflection

I feel that a lot of the information that we are learning may be irrelevant for the ages that I plan on teaching. I feel that this information is much more for older children who can understand was the Internet is, how it works, how to troubleshoot and so forth. The information is great for me to learn as a teacher but I just feel that some of it is not needed. I really enjoyed the IMOVIE even though mine wasn't as great as I wanted, I did learn many different ways to use that program and I think if I have a MAC in my classroom that I would really learn how to perfect my skills in that area. I feel that the most important thing that I have learned in the this class thus far is how to search the Internet to find beneficial websites to help me with lesson plans, pictures, videos, and much more.

Some of the pros of using internet in the early elementary classroom is that it will help find beneficial information on the topics that you are looking up or teaching to the classroom. Also, the internet has many websites that have different kinds of lesson plans on and this would help if you did not know how to teach a subject. Also, the internet has many websites that have pictures, videos, and music that can help support your lesson plan. Some of the cons would be that you may not be as creative because you have all your information online. I think that internet is a very good thing for the classroom and I believe that it will help support the lessons and the internet as all sorts of information on everything. The internet has many reliable resources to better help support any ideas.

What Kindergartens need to know..

I think that is it really an accomplishment that the state came out with standards for kindergarteners. I think this will help the teachers to know what to teach and how to teach it. It will be much easier to have lesson plans be made. I think standards are good for teachers because it allows them to have an agenda and to build the child's knowledge for specific criteria. I think that it is really cool how they also came out with the guide to help the teachers explain the skills and how to teach it because it is a new system and teachers may not be used to it. I think that standards allow their to be more options because it lets you know what you have to teach but it allows you to incorporate other skills into those lessons.

Nature Lesson Plan

For my lesson plan I would incorporate nature pictures that I have taken and have the children explore nature and all of the aspects that would help the children better understand all the different kinds of life that there is. After exploring the pictures, I would then have a field trip planned for the children to take a trip to a nature preserve and explore all the kinds of life first hand. I feel that most important experience for children is to have them explore and experience everything first hand. During the trip, I would see if the school had a digital camera, video recorder, or disposables. If nothing was available I would bring my camera and also purchase disposable cameras so that the children could take pictures of their findings. Overall, I would want the children to learn how to use a camera and also learn about nature and how wonderful it really is.

My name is Jackie and I am from a small township in Ohio. I like to go shopping, running, hanging out with my friends, going to watch movies, listening to all kinds of music. I really enjoy spending time with my family. I am here at Bowling Green to get a major in Early Childhood Education. I am here because I heard how great of a university this was for education. I am happy here now. My thought about technology in the classroom for the early childhood classroom is a must. I believe that in todays society, technology is very highly expected. I don't believe that e-mail and really big things are important for early childhood education. I also think that children will lose physical activity because they will be hooked on the computer. Overall, it is a very good thing to know how to use but children, I think need more hands on attention rather than computer based homework. I think programs on the computer are a good learning tool but I also think we need to learn how manage our time. I also think that children would rather playing games, singing songs, and learning in different ways, than computer based. Frog leaper I think is a great way for children to learn how to read and pronounce words. I feel that frog leaper gives children attention but I feel that person to person is much more important at a young age.
